Restylane® is an injectable dermal filler formulated to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and to augment the lips. This minimally invasive non-surgical treatment restores a youthful and smooth appearance to the skin.
Most people long for flawless blemish-free skin, and while a good skincare regimen does help to reduce the early signs of aging, they are inevitable. UV rays, pollution, poor nutrition, genetics, and certain medications are some of the reasons for the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
Restylane is an FDA-approved product designed to address these signs of aging without any need for weeks of frustrating downtime.
How Does Restylane Work?
Restylane is a gel made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin. As we age, we lose this substance and our skin loses volume and folds begin to occur.
Restylane is a unique filler substance formulated to replicate your body’s naturally produced hyaluronic acid. It which attracts water when injected, thereby restoring lost volume.
What Is It Used to Correct?
Restylane is injected into the mid-deep dermis for moderate nasolabial folds, parentheses lines, marionette lines, and smoker’s lines. These wrinkles appear in the midface region. Restylane can also be used to volumize the lips.
Am I a Good Candidate?
At your consultation, it will be determined whether or not you are a suitable candidate for the procedure. You are an ideal candidate if you fulfill the below criteria:
- You do not have a history of severe reactions to dermal fillers.
- You have not had any facial rejuvenation treatments done recently.
- You do not have any infections, rashes, sores, pimples, hives, cysts, or injuries in the treatment area.
- You are not allergic to lidocaine or to the bacterial protein used to make hyaluronic acid.
- You do not have any underlying conditions that could alter the results of the treatment.
- You have realistic expectations for the treatment.
Your doctor will review your medical history, medications, allergies, and other details to determine whether you are a suitable candidate. A physical examination of the treatment area is also conducted.
The Treatment Process
The procedure is fairly simple and takes very little time to complete, usually around 20 minutes or less. The injection process itself takes only minutes and requires local or topical anesthesia.
The treatment area is cleaned, and the injection sites are marked to serve as a guide. An ultra-thin needle is then used to inject Restylane under your skin in the treatment areas.
The results are immediate and there is minimal recovery time. Restylane lasts up to six months and subsequent injections result in even longer effects.
The cost of Restylane is dependent on a number of factors. The medical practice you choose for your treatment determines its price, and the number of injections required also impacts the overall cost.
